Hey!

I started development of iPhone games around september last year. Back then the Apple SDK still had an NDA up; and it was terribly hard to find good documentation and examples on how to get stuff done.

I had no prior knowledge of Objective C or Mac / iPhone development and I was quite lost. After a lot of struggling through the docs, trying to piece everything together I started to slowly put the pieces together. Once I started getting the basics, learning became easier and easier.

I was very relieved when I came across . That framework was incredibly handy and gave me a good boost.

All in all, I decided that once my game was finished, I would open source it for all developers to benefit from my efforts.

is the result of my efforts. It’s been up in the App Store since January 17th, and has received some pretty good feedback. I’m personally very glad with how it turned out. It’s an OpenGL/ES retro game with some excellent music. I’m currently working on an update which will add sound effects, vibrations, and several other game-specific features.

So, if any of you is wondering how to do certain things in OpenGL/ES, how to play music and sound effects, how to make an iPhone vibrate, or anything else featured in Gorillas, you’re invited to go browse the tree, check out the source, or contact me with any questions you might have.

I personally think it’d be awesome if we could spread the news, make more GPL’ed applications and games, and share code among each other so that bigger and better games and applications can surface, and new developers have an awesome resource of demonstrational code to learn from.
