Connecting Code to an Interface builder view tutorial:

I think a lot of people may be having the same problem I had.  After you edit the header file to add txtName and lblHello variables, if you do not save the file, interface builder will not be able to reference these objects! 


It makes sense that when people quit xcode and restart (their files have been saved), interface builder now allows them to reference these new variables.


Hope this can help somebody!
