I'm pretty much the PC guy from the commercial – but I got an iPod Touch and I really want to write some code for it.  I'm an experienced programmer in UNIX and Windows, but somehow managed to avoid Apples since the IIe I had in high school.

What machine should I get to write iPhone code?  I want to minimize the expenditure, but don't want to compromise on iPhone coding potential.  It seems to me that a minimal machine would be OK for iPhone simulation, but I really don't know.  Any thoughts or suggestions?  I prefer to buy used merchandise.

Thanks!

You'll need some form of Intel Mac. That is requirement listed for the iPhone version of Xcode. Start by visiting developer.apple.com. Registration is free as is the software (but you'll need the Mac to install and run).
