Thanks mainly to these tutorials, my first application is approved!

I can't see it on the store yet.. I guess they do that in rounds each day when a few pages of apps are added to the store. Yay!

Nick,

Congrats man that is awesome!  I'm glad this site was able to help you out.  Is your app free or does it cost?

Thanks crazyiez :)

I'm a little overwhelmed.. it has now hit the top 10 free apps in the Australian store and it's now #3! so many people are emailing me giving me suggestions for other traffic cameras they want in the App. If only I made it 99c.. :p maybe in a future update where I have cameras for everywhere in Australia..

Great job!  That is really amazing.  Put some ads in the next update and start making some $.

Kudos!

How many downloads thus far?  When did it officially go up on the App Store?

It went up last saturday and hit number one 2/3 days ago now. Here's the stats just from yesterday:

2000 downloads in one day.. not too shabby. I don't own the legal rights to the images im using for the traffic cameras so i couldn't charge for it. Shame. :P

Nick, any chance you could provide us wih a few bullet points of what is involved in getting certified as an iPhone web developer and submitting your iPhone app for approval? How much time does it take?

I have, of course, paid my $99 and never heard back from Apple. It's been 3 weeks. I'm now working on test apps and want to test them on my iPhone. But I don't know how to get the certificate or whatever is needed for that to work.

I read through the summaries of the process on the iPhone Development Center but, frankly, they were mostly gibberish to me. If you could give us a few sentences of the process you took and how long it took that would be very helpful.

Thanks.

Hi Dale,

When you are approved you will have had an email from Apple stating they have reviewed the info you submitted and had a link to review and read the developer license. Once you have agreed you will have instant access to the developer portal. When you log into

you will notice top right hand side a link called 'iPhone Developer Program” with a blue arrow under it saying “Program portal”

You need to click that and it will take you to the portal where you can enrter you developer team info, request certificates, add your devices and finally receive your development certificates needed to put your app on your phone.

Also under the getting started area in the iphone developer page you will see a “Publishing on the App Store”. All the documentation you need is there.

Good luck!

My first app (Australian Postcodes) is also (thanks in part to your great tutorials!).

Sorry for the shameless plug, but this process would have been a lot harder without your help! So for everyone else out there, keep on it – it can be done!

Congrats to you for getting an app up. I am still struggling to get mine done. One stumbling block you might be able to help me with is what to enter in the field in Xcode for “Identifier” in the Target dialog box?

Apple's examples are not helpful.
