I am having a heck of a time trying to remove the tab bar from the bottom of a view.  setHidesBottomBarWhenPushed works but only the second time the view is loaded.  I just don't see where I can put the method to insure it gets called before the view loads.  I have tried viewDidLoad, and viewDidAppear.  Are there any other options?  I feel I should be setting this on some other view controller, perhaps a parent, but nothing seems to work.
