Need to copy content from clipboard and store it in a string

for Eg: 

1. open a webpage or any other source(email client,,,) perform a select all or select a part of it 

2. The selected content will be stored in the clipboard ,now  take the data from clipboard and store it in  a string 

can anyone please guide me through to create a sample application to implement this
